One Stop Grill is known for providing authentic, traditional Jamaican dishes and we expect our chefs to deliver meals that will delight our customers at all times! We are seeking an assistant cook to help the chef to prepare quality meals according to One Stop Grill Restaurant’s menu items. You will be expected to prepare traditional Jamaican dishes that are consistent with One Stop Grill Restaurant quality standards. An excellent person must be able to follow instructions in cooking side orders and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be comfortable in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking side orders is also important. At least 3 years of working in a high-volume kitchen is highly recommended. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele. Requirements: - At least 3 years of experience in cooking traditional Jamaican meals. - Ensure compliance with state local and regulatory agencies as it relates to Food Service. - Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware - Ability to follow all sanitation procedures. - Excellent communication skills. - Excellent physical condition and stamina. - High school diploma or equivalent (Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage) - Time management skills. Duties (including but not limited to) Properly washing and drying all dishes, utensils, cooking instruments and cutting boards. Neatly putting away all utensils, cooking instruments, dishes, and cutting boards in their respective places. Packing take-out orders as needed. Removing garbage, replacing garbage bags, and washing garbage cans. Mopping and sweeping the kitchen areas as required. Storing ingredients and food items according to food safety standards. - Coordinate food and kitchenware orders - Check freshness and quality of ingredients - Assist in the development of menu items - Standardize recipes and plate presentations -Willing to work on a shift basis, including weekends and public holidays, as required by business operations. Expected working hours are approximately 35–40 hours per week. Benefits Health Insurance and Pension as per the Cayman Islands Labor law.
